How to Keep Your Creative Juices Flowing

As an entrepreneur, you are a creative. You encompass many qualities about you that make you your own toughest critic and your biggest competition. As a creative, it's imperative that we always rejuvenate, renew, and replenish our craft. With busy schedules, phone calls, interviews, clients, website and social platform updates, and all the many other things that are at the top of our To-Do list everyday, it seems almost impossible to make time to take care of you- the creative. Then, before you know it, the universe has pulled you so many ways, and you've become so exhausted that you cannot even think of new ways to make your business unique. Here's a few tips on how to always keep your creative juices flowing as an entrepreneur:

1. CHALLENGE YOURSELF TO LEARN SOMETHING NEW EVERYDAY.

It could be something as simple as learning a new app to enhance your graphic designs for social media, reading a book for business owners, or even reading our JMPR Biz Blog that gives you some real how-to's... However you choose to go about this, just know it is important to always learn something new.

2. HANG AROUND DIFFERENT PEOPLE.

Your tribe is so important for your constant growth. Surround yourself with people that challenge you, speak positive thoughts, and motivate you to be your best self.

3. BE SURE YOUR PERSONAL LIFE IS NOT CRAMPING YOUR CREATIVE STYLE.

I know it's hard for people to remember that business owners are still real people. Sometimes you even forget that you are a real person. Realistically, you go through stuff. You experience fall outs, bad days, bad relationships, and much more that can cloud your mind. However, it is important to keep you personal life as calm and clean as possible. I've definitely reached a point in my adult life where I monitor who and what I keep around me. As a creative, negative energy and drama just IS NOT conducive for you. Your environment will affect your productivity. Be sure your environment is peaceful enough to welcome your creativity to flow.

4. ALLOW YOURSELF SOME ALONE TIME. RELAXATION MATTERS.

I'm pretty sure I went through my entire first year of business with the "No Days Off" mindset. The thing about this is, it's not realistic and quite honest, extremely unhealthy. As mentioned in #3, you are a REAL PERSON, and as real people, sometimes we just need a nap. There is NOTHING WRONG WITH THIS. Take an off day. I've now gotten to a point where I have forced myself to always take Sunday's off. No matter what, Sunday is my day to go to church, clean my house, do some grocery shopping, enjoy a brunch with my friends, or simply just sit on my couch and turn my phone off. Allowing yourself the time to recoup and re-energize is important to make sure you can do your job effectively. So go ahead and take a load off when you need it. Listen to your body, and listen to your spirit. Take care of you.

5. ATTEND INSPIRATIONAL WORKSHOPS.

With the many biz-events you will go to, be sure to make space to attend an event purely for motivational purposes. MY inspirational workshop happens every Sunday from 9am-10:30am when I go to church, but however you choose to receive your inspiration, just make sure you receive it. You will need this as a business owner.

6. COME BACK TO PAST IDEAS THAT YOU ONCE THREW AWAY.

Sometimes when you change your mind about ideas, it doesn't always mean that they weren't good ideas. This could simply mean that they weren't good for that time. Be sure to circle back to ideas that you once created, and see how you can expand on them now. This could easily spark a great new idea for you!

7. Think BIG!

Do not limit yourself. Every idea, every event, every plan, and every strategy means something. The higher you aim, the higher level of success you will accomplish. Think of it this way: You have nothing to lose. Do not settle. You were never meant to be mediocre. As a business owner, you are already defeating many odds. Keep going.

Hope this helps, guys!
